Bushfire Risk Management Plan (BRMP) Review

Bushfires are a significant threat in the South West. Our region's unique landscape and climate make it particularly vulnerable to bushfires, which can cause extensive damage to properties and pose serious risks to lives. Being prepared for bushfires is crucial to minimise their impact and ensure the safety of our community.

What is the BRMP?

The BRMP is a plan created by local governments to help reduce the impact and severity of bushfires. The BRMP is developed under the State Hazard Plan guidelines and is reviewed by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) Office of Bushfire Management.

Why is the BRMP Important?

The BRMP identifies the values of our community and the specific risks posed by bushfires. Furthermore, it also guides us in treating and mitigating these risks.

About the Survey

This survey is part of the review of the Shire of Denmark’s Bushfire Risk Management Plan (BRMP). We want to hear from the community to ensure the final BRMP reflects its values.

This survey aims to:

  • Understand the community's values and the specific risks that a potential bushfire poses to them, and,
  • Understand the potential short-term and long-term impacts of bushfires on employees, business owners and service providers within the Shire of Denmark.

This survey is being undertaken as part of the Shire of Denmark’s Bushfire Risk Management Plan (BRMP) review.

Community consultation is a core component of the BRMP which aims to reflect the values of the entire community.

Your responses help us identify and understand what our community values most, and what specific risks bushfires pose to them, demonstrating where our mitigation activities can be most effective.

This survey is presented in two parts:

    • Part 1 (approx. 10mins) - Understanding the values of our community, where you believe resources should be concentrated to reduce the impact of bushfires and how resilient our community is.
    • Part 2 (approx. 5mins) - Identifying the impact of bushfires on employees and business owners, within or servicing the Shire of Denmark. Part 2 is optional.

All questions marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.

The BRMP is developed according to State Hazard Plan guidelines and involves the DFES Office of Bushfire Management, the Shire’s Strategic Community Plan, and Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA).
